The South Delhi police on Thursday recovered the gun that was used by the five accused during the Dhaula Kuan gangrape case. The police said the country-made pistol was used by Kamru alias Mobile to scare the 30-year-old employee of a call centre after she was abducted on November 24.
The police also claimed to have recovered the clothes that two of the accused Shahid alias Chota Billi and Kamru were wearing on the night of the crime. Officials said the clothes will be sent for forensic tests and will be major evidence in the case.
In a late evening operation,a team of officers of South Delhi went to Dhauj village in Mewat (Haryana) to recover the weapon used in the crime following receipt of information from Kamru,who was arrested two days ago.
All five accused Iqbal,Shamsad,Usman,Shahid and Kamru have been interrogated by police in custody.
The police already claim to have recovered the Mahindra pick-up van used in the abduction and gangrape.
Two accused,Shamsad and Usman,were identified by the victim during an identification parade while the other three refused to go through it.
In the aftermath of the crime,the Delhi Police formed at least 15 teams to solve the case. They claimed to have recovered crucial evidence.
