We changed Master Plan for professionals: Maken

Unfortunately, perhaps for his national ambitions, Kejriwal ditched the people of Delhi. He hasn’t shown his face since he won the Delhi election, Maken said.

Ajay Maken, Congress candidate from New Delhi, on Friday attacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for “abandoning the people of Delhi to fulfil his national ambitions”.

Maken said the Congress supported the AAP-led government in Delhi due to the support of the voters for AAP. “Unfortunately, perhaps for his national ambitions, Kejriwal ditched the people of Delhi. He hasn’t shown his face since he won the Delhi election,” Maken said.

He filed his nomination for the New Delhi parliamentary constituency accompanied by his family. He also alleged that neither Kejriwal nor any of his MLAs had returned to their constituency to speak to the people who had voted them into power.

“Everyone has seen their 49-day government in the city and how they have performed,” he said. He highlighted the fact that during his term as the Urban Development minister, he had brought about necessary amendments to the Master Plan to allow young professionals to use residential spaces as offices. “We did this to give young doctors, CAs and lawyers a start as they can’t always afford to rent office space,” he said.

Meanwhile, DPCC chairman Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the BJP has fielded candidates unknown to the people of Delhi. “The BJP is politically bankrupt. All our candidates are residents of Delhi and share a connect with voters,” he said.

He added that the DPCC would soon form committees to coordinate between candidates and party workers in order to disseminate information about the work done by the Congress governments at the state and the Centre.
