New girl on the block
Having been the brand ambassador of the Vijay Mallya-owned Bangalore IPL team Royal Challengers throughout,Katrina Kaif is backing out from the upcoming season. She cites her shooting schedules,especially Yash Raj Films Mere Brother Ki Dulhan,as the reason. However,we arent surprised at the turn of events as the Mallya scion Siddhartha is now said to be dating Deepika Padukone whom we expect to see cheering the team next month. Now we wonder if Katrina has politely stepped down or has she been shown the door.
Winds of change
Akshay Kumar is set to ditch his simple guy characters,who falls for peoples devious plans in order to play a cool,witty and wicked character who performs daredevil stunts.
While producer Sajid Nadiadwala is calling him the desi James Bond,it looks like Akki has had his fill of comedy which has mostly had dismal results at the box office lately and has instead opted for what first made him a star,action. His forthcoming films,Joker,Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai s sequel and Housefull 2 are all indicators of that.
Good cop,bad cop
After being on the wrong side of the law in the blockbuster that catapulted his Bollywood career,Sonu Sood is set to play a cop in two of his forthcoming films. Kabeer Kaushik s next directorial project,Maximum ,starring Arshad Warsi ,is a film on the underworld. Then there is Puri Jagannath s Budda where Sonu shares screen space with Amitabh Bachchan,in a role that is modelled on the latters iconic character in Zanjeer. But the uniform doesnt charm Sonu so much the actor is waiting to challenge Salman Khan once again in Dabangg s sequel. Were eagerly awaiting that battle.
