Uber driver says falsely implicated in rape case

Yadav, recording his statement before Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja, said that he did not rape the victim.

Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, accused of rape, claimed before a fast track court that he was innocent, stating that he has been falsely implicated and that he did not rape the woman executive.

Yadav, recording his statement before Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja, said that he did not rape the victim, adding that he had no idea why he had been falsely implicated in the case.

In his deposition, he claimed that after boarding the vehicle, the woman started crying and he overheard her talking to someone. “After sitting in the car, she started crying and told me to drop her at Inderlok via Dhaula Kaun. When I asked her as to why she was crying, she told me that it was not my business and after that I kept quiet,” Yadav said.

Yadav claimed after dropping her at her house, he parked his car at the spot (place where the alleged incident took place), hoping to pick up more passengers.

In his deposition, Yadav claimed that he saw the victim’s mobile phone lying in the car and a call was coming on that number.

He received the call and found that it was the victim at the other end. The victim asked him to return her mobile phone and so he went back to her house, the accused submitted in his statement.

“It is incorrect that I threatened to insert a rod in her as in the December 16, 2012 gangrape case. It is incorrect that I raped her,” Yadav testified in court, adding that he had not tried to strangulate the woman.
