Two autolifters who secretly installed GPS devices in cars to track and steal held in Delhi’s Dwarka

CCTV footage showed one of the accused arriving in a i10 car fleeing with the parked car. After scanning footage of nearly 300 CCTV cameras, police traced the i10 and identified Amir as its buyer. He and Sarwar were subsequently detained.

During questioning, police said, the accused allegedly disclosed that whenever vehicles were brought to their workshops, they installed GPS trackers, got duplicate keys made from a key maker, and waited for an opportunity to steal the cars by tracking their location.

Police have recovered three stolen cars, the Hyundai i10 used in the crime, nine number plates, an iPad and a scanning sensor from the accused. Further investigation is underway.
