Two tuition teachers were arrested on Sunday for attempting to take the exam in place of the students they were coaching.

The incident was reported from Saket’s Government Boys Senior Secondary School in Pushp Vihar,Sector 1,where the accused tuition teachers — Kishan Singh and Robin Kumar — were caught writing the Delhi government’s Delhi Subordinate Service Selection Board exam.

According to the police,Singh and Kumar arrived at the exam centre at 10 am and signed the attendance sheets as the original examinees. The school principal M S Khan, however, noticed discrepancies between the signatures and photographs of the two accused and the original examinees and confronted them. When the teachers failed to provide a satisfactory explanation,Khan called Police Control Room.

“We arrested Singh and Kumar for impersonation and cheating. The original examinees,Pradeep Kumar and Priya Varts, are residents of Haryana. A case has been registered against them as well and a team will be sent to their native place to arrest them,” the police said.

The accused told police that they had coached the original examinees for another government competitive exam, which they failed. This time, however,Pradeep and Priya gave Rs 10,000 each to the accused for taking their exams, the police said.

The exam was for the posts of fire operators in Delhi Fire department, the police added.
