Trial run extended to Sarita Vihar

Trial runs on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor was extended upto the Sarita Vihar depot.

Trial runs on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor was extended upto the Sarita Vihar depot on Monday,covering a stretch of 15 kms of the 20 km-long corridor.

The stretch covers 13 Metro stations,with Lajpat Nagar,Moolchand,Kailash Colony,Nehru Place,Kalkaji Mandir,Govindpuri,Okhla,Jasola and Sarita Vihar stations being the elevated ones,while the Central Secretariat,Khan Market,JLN Stadium and Jangpura are the underground stations. The corridor will be the second standard-gauge Metro corridor after Inderlok-Mundka.

Trial runs are being carried out in a phased manner and were extended from the Lajpat Nagar to Okhla stretch on September 16. “The line was one of the most challenging for DMRC,as the time was extremely short — only 41 months. The line was sanctioned on April 20,2007,and the DMRC intends to commission it before the Games,” said a DMRC spokesperson.

The Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS),meawhile,inspected the Airport Metro Express Line on Monday — the inspection is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday. After getting a CMRS certificate,the line is expected to be thrown open to the public by the end of this week.
