Tourists from Pak can register online

In order to facilitate Pakistan nationals visiting the capital,the Delhi Police has started an online registration service.

Earlier,Pakistan nationals visiting Delhi had to go to the special branch office for completing registration and other formalities.

The service was started on November 21,2013 to facilitate tourists.

“The service has been put in place through a centralised database system in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Each user has been assigned an ID through a virtual private network token. Data travels through a secure network and information is submitted to the MHA server,” Special Commissioner of Police,Intelligence,S Nithianandam said.

Through this service,permanent and temporary registration certificates for Pakistan nationals are issued online and visa related issues such as exit permit and visa extension are also done online,he said.

Explaining how it is done,police said camps were recently organised by officials of special branch.

“After the completion of all paper formalities for long-term visa of 388 Hindu Pakistan nationals,who had come to India on pilgrim visa in March 2013,a detailed police report was sent to Delhi government. The government will forward it to the Ministry of Home Affairs,” a Delhi Police officer said.
