She walked in flirty white, flirted on the beaches of Mauritius and stole the affections of her fiancé’s brother. Yet,Sorry Bhai was not quite Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, for everyone waiting for Chitrangda Singh to dazzle the screen. Singh herself seems impatient. After six years, she is again teaming with Mishra — this time she plays a seductive and glamorous woman in the political drama Dhruv that starts shooting next month.

Dressed in a chic white kurta and denims and running her fingers through her hair,Singh says,“I have always been the dutiful housewife. And in my films people expect me to play complex characters. But I want to do something different, play lighter, glamorous roles,” she says.

Mishra’s Aur Devdas,in which she plays Chandramukhi, was slated for release this year, but it has been shelved. After Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D,Mishra thought it wise not to go ahead with his “magnum opus”. “I was looking forward to the film. But something else came along which turned out to be better,” says Singh. “With Sudhir,I am picking up where I left off. He has not changed a bit in all these years. I am grateful to him for making me believe in my acting abilities,” she says, refusing to say anything about Dhruv that also stars Farhan Akhtar and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles.
