A one-year-old toddler and his grandmother died after allegedly falling on the roof of a moving i20 car from an under-construction building in Southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on Wednesday, police said.

According to the police, the incident came to light at around 5.03 pm on Wednesday when a PCR call reported that two people had fallen from a building in Bharat Vihar.

“At 5.03 pm, a PCR was received at Dwarka North police station, wherein the caller informed that two people had fallen from an under-construction building at Bharat Vihar, Gali No 3 at Dwarka’s Sector 15, near Kisan Mandi, adding that they needed to be taken to the hospital,” a police officer said.

The deceased — identified as Hari Bai, 45, and her grandson Raj — were soon rushed to Aakash hospital.

“It was learnt that some individuals had fallen from a height, sustained injuries, and had already been shifted to Aakash Hospital,” the officer said.

“A man named Mukesh said that his mother, Hari Bai, and his son, Raj, had fallen from the upper floor of the building to the roof of a moving i20 car. Both were declared dead at the hospital,” the officer added.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, police said.
