Police on Thursday arrested a man and his two sons for allegedly injuring and threatening an MLA in Outer Delhis Sultanpuri area. The mans wife, who is also an accused in the case,is absconding.
The arrested have been identified as Om Prakash, and his sons,Monu and Amit.
According to police, the incident took place at 10 pm on Wednesday. The Congress MLA,Jai Kishan (50) got into an argument with the family while he was returning home from a meeting.
The MLA had an altercation with the accused persons over a minor issue, which later turned into a scuffle. They pushed Kishan on to the ground and beat him up, said Karunakaran,Additional DCP (Outer).
Police said Kishan suffered scratches on his hands and knees and was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. A case of causing injury and threatening to cause harm, apart from one under the Arms Act,has been registered, Karunakaran said.
Speaking to Newsline over phone,Kishan said he was going home after a meeting when he saw a group of young men troubling a few girls in the Sultanpuri area and tried to intervene.
Monu and Amit were troubling the girls in the colony and I had received complaints against them earlier, too. They were drunk, Kishan said.
Kishan then informed police. When he personally tried to stop the two from troubling the girls, the brothers called their parents to the spot, who then allegedly started misbehaving with Kishan. According to him,the two boys held him while their parents started beating and abusing him.
I fell into a nearby ditch and was lying there till the police came. While the police were taking them away,Monu and his father threatened to kill me once they were released, Kishan said.
