Indo-African friendship goes back to the pre-historic age,owing to large-scale migration. To celebrate Indias long-standing historical,political and economic relations with Africa,Delhi hosted a two-day African Festival this week,organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations at Kamani Auditorium. Participating nations included Zambia,Seychelles,Ghana,Senegal,Sudan and Mali. Clad in vibrant traditional costumes and feathered head-gear,the performers enthralled the audiences with traditional African dances. The performances were choreographed by Delhi-based Bharatnatyam dancer Geeta Chandran,to accomodate some Indian elements. Besides,a wide range of traditional African art forms and percussion instruments could also be seen.
