IT takes several seconds to register that the nerdy, bespectacled youngster talking animatedly about breaking free of societal norms has a notorious CV — he is one of the most “popular” writers of Savita Bhabhi,India’s first porn cartoon website. But even as there are rumours that Savita Bhabhi will become a Hindi film,Sumit Kumar,23,would rather talk about his new graphic novel called An Itch you Can’t Scratch (Rs 350,Popculture Publishing),which was launched a few weeks ago. “It’s an autobiography to an extent, and deals with issues like growing up,making decisions, career and,(of course) women. For instance, does one follow societal norms or do one’s own thing?” he asks earnestly. He adds,“I am a computer engineer by training but a stand-up comedian and writer by vocation. It was a tough call but I had to give in to the itch to do what I love. I know that I could have earned more as an engineer.” The book cover is blushing evidence about the genre. It depicts a cartoon character covering his private parts.
