Idea Exchange provides students with an opportunity to interact with influential people and thought leaders.

Idea Exchange provides students with an opportunity to interact with influential people and thought leaders. This week’s guest was Rajnath Singh,Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh

Niharika Dubey :You speak of social harmony. But the BJP has always supported Hindutva. How does this promote social harmony in a secular country?

Rajnath: The ideology of Hindutva is secular. Hindutva does not permit discrimination. Hindutva calls for sensitivity towards all living beings. No one can say that Hindutva has a communal ideology. The Supreme Court, too has said that Hindutva is not communal. It is a way of life. It is a human religion. Whenever there have been communal riots, the BJP has condemned them; we have considered them unfortunate. I have also been Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and there have been communal riots in Kanpur. But no Muslim there has raised a finger at us.

Abhinav Chug: Who is the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate? Is it you,Advani or someone else?

Rajnath: The BJP’s central parliamentary board will decide that.
