A wide-angle view of life in China emerges through an exhibition of photographs being held at the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society.

Titled Enchanting Sichuan – Charming China, the exhibition is a part of the “Experience China-Sichuan Week in India”,a cultural initiative between the governments of India and China.

The images range from humorous moments — a monk dressed in white satin balancing on one foot with his hands arched backwards — to natural beauty — the misty white waters of the Nuorilang waterfalls surrounded by abundant flora. Over a dozen images are on display, showcasing the diversity of Sichuan,a South-Western province of China, which boasts most of the country’s heritage sites and a vibrant cultural scene among others. One image shows a face-painted performer spitting fire during a festival in the town of Dan Ba. Another captures a playful family of giant pandas on the mountain slopes the Hengduan mountain ranges, which have been a safe sanctuary for this endangered species for centuries.

The images are from the Chinese Embassy’s collection in Delhi.

The exhibition is being held at AIFACS,Rafi Marg, till April 30.
