I believe I shouldnt get classified. I dont like to repeat what Ive once done and instead prefer to explore alternate avenues. My USP,I would say,is that I can connect with the audience in whatever I do. Which is why I instantly took up Kuch Cook Hota Hai as a challenge whenever one thinks of a cookery show,one thinks of Sanjeev Kapoor. I know the audience will enjoy it because theres a bit of song,dance and fun too,on the show besides the regular cooking.

Are you a good cook?

Im very bad. I had never even boiled water before Kuch Cook Hota Hai. But Ive been learning since. The first thing I learnt was how to cook Maggi. But now I can make awesome aloo parathas and often treat my friends to those. Im getting better with practice.

So what made the producers sign you on?

I guess my charm. Jokes apart,I think it was my ability to pull off a cookery show mingled with ample entertainment in form of dancing and unscripted humour.

How did you manage on the show if you couldnt cook?

The first few days were tough and we had quite a few retakes. I didnt know jeera from rai and would often pick up a masala in front of the camera and call it by the wrong name. But I memorised it all and now I can tell what masalas constitute a dish just by tasting it.

Whats your favourite cuisine?

I would either pick Italian or Mughlai. Sadly,despite having baked pastries and cooked Chinese and chicken dishes,Ive never ever had a prepare pasta on the show.

What new will we see you do next?

I will be co-hosting Zees new show Ghar Ghar Mein with Aadesh Bandekar. Its the Hindi adaptation of Zee Marathis popular show Home Minister,where the hosts go to the homes of the viewer in different parts of the state and play games with the family.
