The third edition of TEDxDelhi will search for a multi-pronged definition of a city.

What constitutes a city? Is it a social edifice constructed from interpersonal relationships,or is a city defined by the stress of livelihood? At the third edition of TEDxDelhi on October 6,a range of speakers will tackle this question,and explore it from their individual perspectives. On the panel will be 22-year-old CEO Deepak Ravindran of Innoz,who has developed a mobile application of a search engine that works without the internet; Amitabh Kant,well-known for the the “Incredible India” campaign and branding Kerala as “God’s Own Country”; and eminent contemporary artist Bharti Kher among others.

Titled “Elasti City”,the event,being held at India Habitat Centre,will have “around 12 speakers,whose talks will be just 12 minutes long”,informs Feroze Gujral,curator of TEDxDelhi. “We decided to do TEDxDelhi on cities. Speakers will talk about the changes in the city and how this affects us,” says Gujral. TedxDelhi is the Delhi chapter of TedxChange,an annual seminar on innovations and ideas.

While Kher will talk about the need for public spaces for art in urban areas,Pankaj Gupta,a specialist in Emotional Freedom Technique(EFT) will reflect on stress and the city,and demonstrate to the audience how tapping can be used to heal the the emotional and physical pain of the body naturally. Another speaker,Karthik Naralasetty has used the social media for a cause.

He has created socialblood.org,a social networking platform that connects blood group donors and recipients. At the seminar,he will share the story of his journey.

The event will include four performances,from singer Sonam Kalra’s renditions of Sufi poetry combined with gospel singing to a dance show that will reflect on the changing landscapes of the city.
