Swiss heritage luxury leather brand,Bally is set to enter the Indian luxury market. Aiming to expand its retail presence in the region,Bally has chosen to partner with Bird Group,for its India venture. The 160-year-old brand opens its first store at the DLF Emporio mall in Delhi later this year. Berndt Hauptkorn,Ballys CEO,says,Right from the beginning,since 1851,Bally has been Swiss by nature and global by reach. Today,we operate in almost 90 countries. This partnership marks our entry into the Indian market,which is that of huge potential for today and the future.
The brand is known for its minimalist aesthetics and high-quality bags and shoes. Ballys 2010 resort collection,for instance,was very well-regarded for its streamlined and dignified approach. It remains to be seen,how much space it finds in the Indian market which places a premium on loud logos and bling. Ankur Bhatia,executive director of the Bird Group says,We believe that Ballys heritage of excellence in craftsmanship and established reputation in luxury goods is a perfect fit with Indias evolving luxury sector and consumer expectations. The brand is well known in India given its vast legacy and already has a loyal set of followers. I am sure the brand will be welcomed in India by an enthusiastic and eclectic mix of patrons.
