(Representational/File)A 26-year-old man died while two others were severely injured after the SUV in which they were travelling collided with a divider and turned turtle near Sector 126 on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The incident took place early Sunday morning, said police.
The deceased, Vijay alias Bablu, was a resident of Phase 2 in Jaitpur, South Delhi. The injured are 24-year-old Ashish Thakur and 24-year-old Aryan Kumar alias Bobby, both residents of Connaught Place in Delhi.
It is yet to be ascertained who was driving the car at the time of the incident, said police.
“The deceased was a businessman. This incident happened around 1 am on Sunday. Vijay along with his friends Ashish and Aaryan were returning home from Greater Noida when his XUV 500 rammed into a divider,” said a police officer.
He further said the impact was such that the car flipped several times, went over the service road, and fell in the green belt area. During the incident, one of the car’s occupants was thrown out.
Officials said another friend of the deceased was in a different car, which was moving ahead of the SUV when it collided with the divider.
“They saw the incident in their rearview mirror. They stopped the car and rushed to help. Vijay was taken to a hospital by policemen where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The two injured men were later referred to another hospital in Delhi,” said an officer.
Police said that during the investigation, they found that Ashish and Aryan are cousins and the trio had gone to attend a party in Greater Noida. No case has been registered yet and further investigation is underway in the case, said police.
