A day after the Games Organising Committee (OC) suspended top officials T S Darbari and M Jeychandran, the Sports Ministry has “emphatically advised” the OC that the punishment isn’t “adequate”,and that the officials must be sacked.

Secretary Sindhushree Khullar has written to OC Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, saying “placing the two officials in question under suspension is not adequate… This Ministry emphatically advises that T S Darbari and Sanjay Mohindroo should be relieved of all duties… and should not be further associated in any manner with the Games.”

The letter is along the same lines as the Ministry’s earlier advice to the OC,conveyed on August 1. Deputy Director-General Mohindroo, whose sacking the Ministry sought in its earlier letter as well, resigned, according to OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot,“at least 2-3 months back”.
