(Representational Image)A 22-year-old Jawaharlal Nehru University student was killed and three others were injured after a two-wheeler hit two persons early Sunday.
According to the police, two students, including the deceased, were roaming around the campus on a bike when they accidentally hit two pedestrians near the Godavari bus stop inside the campus. Anshu Kumar, who was killed, was a first-year BA student in Russian Studies and lived in the Sutlej Hostel and owned a KTM bike. Doctors said he died on the spot.
His friend, Vishal Kumar, 23, also on the bike, suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment. Vishal, who is not a JNU student, and Anshu are from the same village in Gaya, Bihar.
Manoj C, DCP (Southwest), said they received a call from AIIMS Trauma Centre early morning about the accident at JNU. “A speeding bike had hit two pedestrians inside the university campus. The investigating officer was sent to the spot and the hospital,” the DCP said.
The police found that the bike hit the two other students and later crashed on the side of the road. Due to the impact of the accident all four were rushed to the hospital.
The pedestrians were identified as JNU students Sachin and Mrigank Yadav, both 25-year-olds, who are pursuing their Master’s in Political Science and live in campus hostels. The police said that while Sachin is critical, Yadav is stable.
