Dola Banerjee,Jayanta Talukdar and Mangal Singh Champia Indias leading recurve archers have all exited from the individual round of the CWG 2010 Archery Test event on Wednesday.
But despite these loses the Indian camp was buzzing with anticipation as the hosts dominated for the second day in a row in a severely depleted field.
Talukdar was taken out in the pre-quarter-finals by team mate Thupuvoyi Swuro in the mens recurve,while Champia was outclassed in the quarter-finals by Malaysias Sian Cheng Chu.
However,the Indian trio of Tarundeep Rai,Rahul Banerjee,Kapil along with Chu,have all entered the semi-final and have a shot at the gold medal.
It was a complete domination for the women archers Chekrovolu Swuro,Deepaki Kumari,Sushma and V Pranitha have sealed a spot in the last four. Chekrovolu Swuro ended Dolas resistance in the quarter-finals,while L Bombayla Devi lost out in a place in the semi-finals,going down to team mate Deepaki Kumari.
In the team category,India takes on England in the first semi-finals,while Scotland play Malaysia in the second. In the womens,Indian team face Singapore,and Wales take on Malaysia.
In the mens compound event,C R Srither takes on team mate Chungda Sherpa,while I R Sanam faces Malaysias M Z Mahazan. However,Gagandeep Kaur was the sole Indian to make the last four in the womens event.Scotlands Tracy McGowan takes on Lucie Osullivan in the first semi-final,while Kaur meets Nicola Simpson from England in the second semi-final.
In the team category,Indian mens face England while the Malaysian take on Wales,while the Indian eves team take on Scotland and England take on Malaysia.
