After more than 70 concerts world over,Spanish duo,Nita Cordoba and Ale Acosta, promise to enthral the Delhi audience with their foot-tapping dance on funky electronic tunes,at Instituto Cervantes tonight.
Performing as part of the third edition of the New Urban Cultures Festival, organised by Instituto Cervantes and the Embassy of Spain, the duo are among the several artistes who have travelled from Spain to Delhi with the aim of strengthening ties between the two countries through dance, theatre, fashion and film. The opening day of the festival,Saturday, saw fashion designer Ritu Kumar in conversation with Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. The two spoke about the parallel influences in fashion and design between the two countries. “I feel that India has always been a huge inspiration for the world’s fashion industry. More so now, because India has become a big market for luxury brands,” said Kumar.
While Kike Maillo, director of Spanish film Eva,and Raj Kumar Gupta, director of No One Killed Jessica, will be in conversation today, the itinerary also features a dance performance by Indian-origin,Spain-based Sunny Singh, who established Europe’s first professional Bollywood dance company,Bailamos Bollywood.
There is something for the art aficionados too. On display will be works of Frederic Amat in mediums ranging from painting to photographs and sculpture and posters made by fashion designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, including the one she designed for a fashion parade in Osaka in 1990. The poster features 40 sketches from her collection that was paraded.
On Monday, the festival will conclude with the screening of Spanish films, including the much-acclaimed El Truco Del Manco, that won the Goya Award for Best New Director in 2009.
