Barcelona-based photographer Óscar Fernández Orengo has brought the stars of the Spanish film industry to Delhi almost. His ongoing exhibition at the Instituto Cervantes called Everyday Scenes comprises 40 portraits of actors and directors, all of them captured in their natural settings, away from the film studios. I wanted to shoot them when they were by themselves either relaxing or contemplating,as if the photographer wasnt there. Most of the pictures have been taken at the homes of these stars in Spain, says Orengo,38.
Shot over a period of eight months, the photographer has used a blend of natural and artificial light to create figures in a reflective mood. Some of the most impressive images include individual portraits of award-winning actors the stunning Emma Suárez reclining on a couch (the only black-and-white picture in the exhibition),Jorge Sanz by the pool,Feredico Luppis sipping coffee with a mysterious look on his face. We thought that this exhibition will feed the growing interest of Indians in Spanish films, said Nitesh Gurbani,Cultural Events Coordinator,Instituto Cervantes.
The exhibition is on till July 31. Contact: 43681908.
