Delhi designers Parvesh Kumar Sharma and Jai Prakash Singh have already earned a niche for themselves with their eco-friendly fashion line and eye-popping designs. Now the two are getting ready to showcase their latest collection at the Atmosphere pret-a-porter show in Paris, scheduled to take place from September 4 to 7. Of course, the two are hardly new to the world of international fashion, this being their third showing at the trade event at Paris, but this time around they plan to showcase outfits with a strong Indian influence. “We have called our collection Kamasutra to Superconscious, because it’s inspired by the temple architecture of Khajuraho and Konarak. “Once you get over the sexually explicit sculptures on the outer walls, the mood changes from lust to love at the core of the temple, denoting the sanctity of life,” says Singh,at a sneak preview of this line inspired by Khajuraho at Mismo in Hotel Janpath. From summer jackets to kaftans, shift dresses to evening gowns, all textured and draped innovatively, with silver buttons and buckles as embellishments — the range of clothes is wide. The colour scheme is equally varied — from purple bursts, yellows and pinks, the tone changes to softer shades of beiges and browns. The two have even incorporated hand-paintings by artists on the outfits, all of which are made out of handloom silk. “We wanted to ensure that even though the essence is Indian, the silhouettes work for an international clientele,” he says.
