Even as a final announcement by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on government formation in Delhi is awaited,party members elected to the Delhi Assembly are already looking ahead chalking out plans for their constituencies. As they ready themselves to take up responsibilities in their constituencies,some AAP MLAs announced a series of measures at jan sabhas held over the weekend.
From 100 per cent literacy in the constituency to employment,womens security,booklets with important contact details for various civic problems and zero-tolerance to corruption,the initiatives to be undertaken by AAPs Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti covered a range of issues.
At a jan sabha in Malviya Nagar,Bharti said,I have set some milestones in this area. These goals might seem ambitious but with your support,a lot of it can be achieved.
Elaborating on the measures being planned,he added,We will make two less flyovers but we will ensure that all children receive an education. A survey will be conducted in the area to find out how many people are unemployed. A list of skills that the unemployed have will also be drawn up during the survey. On the basis of this data,we will help them get jobs.
In addition,Bharti spoke about the setting up of an online complaints management system. We are in the process of developing a mechanism for redressal of grievances. You can send us an SMS or an e-mail or use other Internet platforms to register a complaint with us, Bharti told the audience.
In Sangam Vihar constituency home to numerous unauthorised colonies AAP MLA Dinesh Mohania said that access to basic amenities such as water and regularisation of unauthorised colonies were foremost among the measures planned.
The needs of residents of Sangam Vihar are very basic roads,drainage system,water and electricity. After government formation,I would push for the regularisation of the unauthorised colonies. There are numerous legal issues regarding the conversion of plots of land where houses have been constructed some fall under the forest land category while others belong to the ASI. These issues need to addressed immediately, Mohania said. To take steps on these matters,decisions will be taken at the locality level in the mohalla sabhas,he added.
Similarly,for AAPs Deoli MLA,access to water tops the list of priorities. Almost 90 per cent of the constituency is unauthorised. As a result,erratic water supply is the biggest problem in the area. Even though the Sonia Vihar pipelines have been laid,a very large section of the constituency do not get proper water supply. Once the government is formed in Delhi,I will look into the matter with utmost urgency, Prakash,AAP MLA from Deoli,said.
Jaitley takes a dig at AAP referendum
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley criticised the Aam Aadmi Partys referendum over formation of government in Delhi as political opportunism. The AAP had categorically stated that it represents alternative politics. It is guided by idealism. It will neither support nor accept support from either the Congress or the BJP, Jaitley said in a signed article on his website on Sunday,asking how does the AAP justify a volte face where it seems to be compromising on its commitments of alternative politics? by considering accepting Congress support for forming a government in Delhi.
Jaitley,in this context,also took a dig at the referendum,pointing out that a statistical wonder is produced wherein less than 30% people voted for AAP in the election but more than 75% want it to form a government.
