Second seed Vilasiar Khate,fourth seed Aman Agarwal,Russian fifth seed Stanislav Korshunov went down in the boys draw at the RK Khanna tennis stadium. On the other hand,the girls draw saw second seed Aarzoo Malik,German third seed Jasmine Jebawy,fourth seed Spurti Shivalingaiah,fifth seed Spaniard Carol Augustine-Benito,sixth seed Delhi girl Ambika Pande and eighth seed from Jalandhar Rimpledeep Kaur all losing their second round matches.

The stage now looks set for top-seed Rutuja Bhosale,who has been camping in Delhi along with other Fed Cup probables,to take the title. The 15-year-old dismissed Sai Samhitha Chamarthi,an opponent ranked almost 500 places,below her 6-2 6-3.

This was Rutujas fourth straight-set victory in a row after she came through two rounds of qualifiers without conceding a single game. A title here would not only help her break in the top-50 of the world juniors but will also cement her spot for the Australian Open juniors in January. Apart from Rutuja,only seventh seed Tarrannum Handa escaped the dreadful sequence but not before surviving a scare against Belgian Ance Poncelet in a 4-6 6-2 6-1 victory.

Meanwhile,Khates lack of footwork saw him net a lot of simple groundstrokes and his opponent,Shashank Nautiyal,hit plenty of moonballs a tactic he successfully used against Pakistans Zohair Raza in the first round as well which the slightly shorter Khate failed to smash successfully and plunged to a 6-2,7-5 defeat.

In other results,top seeds Rishab Agarwal came back from a set down to beat his Brit opponent,Samuel Sutton 4-6 6-3 6-3 while third seed Amirvala Madanchi defeated Rajanvir Singh 6-3 6-3.
