Farewell ceremony for Class XII students at Amity School
The students of Class XI of Amity International School,Gurgaon,Sector-46,bid adieu to Class XII students on April 1. It was an amazing event complete with dance and drama. Students of Class XI put on a grand cultural show. School principal Arti Chopra,Advisor,R & D,B N Bajpai,vice-principal (primary) Pooja Puri and all coordinators and teachers attended the programme themed Reminiscence. The e-magazine Globzal Amitians was released by B N Bajpai and the principal. Manat Mantoo and Prabhkiret won the title of Miss and Mr Amity,respectively. The outgoing batch were emotional about leaving their alma mater. All outgoing students were given a souvenir a mug with the picture of Amity International School on it.
St Marks School,Meera Bagh,hosts Prakriti Utsav 2013
On April 17,St Marks School,Meera Bagh,hosted Prakriti Utsav 2013,an inter-school event,to mark Earth Day. Around 30 schools from across Delhi participated in it. There were several competitions for the students.The competitions helped students understand the importance of the three Ps Protect,Preserve & Promote Mother Earth.The competitions were judged by an eminent panel of judges The prizes were given away by Amrita Choudhary,Environment Communication Executive,TetraPak India Private Ltd.The event also saw Karuna Singh,Country Coordinator,Earth Day Network,visiting the school,watching the various competitions and interacting with students.
DPS,RK Puram,shines at all-India swimming meet
The all-India Inter-DPS Swimming Championship was held at DPS Bhilai from April 12 to 14. Twenty DPS schools participated from all over India. DPS R K Puram emerged as the winner in the U-19 team championship and was the first runner-up in the U-16 team Championship. Harsh Yadav won four gold medals in the U-19 category and was declared the best swimmer of the meet.
Kavi sammelan held at Abhinav Public School
Hindi kavi sammelan was organised at Abhinav Public School,Pitampura,on April 12. It brought together people who appreciate poetry. It was attended by popular poets such as Rajesh Chetan. The poets mesmerised the audience with their recitals. One of the poets began by deriding his own emaciated appearance and then proceeded to regale the audience with poem after poem recited in a strong Haryanvi accent which had the audience in splits. Another poet won everybodys hearts with a poem on Delhi.
Investiture ceremony at Hillwoods Academy
Hillwoods Academy,Preet Vihar,organised an investiture ceremony for seniors on April 16 to select the prefectorial board. Jatin Sharma and Sanjana Arora were selected as headboy and headgirl. Nilay Srivastava and Mehak Tyagi were given the honour of school prefects. Shruti Jain and Himanshu Kattar were given the responsibility of maintaining discipline in the school. Graphics head,Harshit Yadav and activity coordinator Nikita Joshi and Shubham Sharma were assigned the responsibility of co-curriculum activities.The oath ceremony was conducted by head boy and head girl. Last years head boy and head girl,Aradhya Neeraj and Ayesha Sareen urged the council members to work with determination,devotion and perseverance.
Rukmini Devi Public School students meet Chief Minister
In this fast-paced era of globalisation when thoughts,views and opinions are changing at a dynamic speed,education is going through a transition as well. Rukmini Devi Public School,a renowned institution in Northwest Delhi,has always strived to give an out of the textbook exposure to its students and staff members,which helps in shaping their personalities. The students recently interacted with the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit along with students from Fenelon Sainte Marie,Paris,who were on a visit to Rukmini Devi Public School as part of an exchange programme. The Chief Minister initiated the dialogue and discussion by asking the French group about their experience of Indian food,family,people,etc. and the French delegates said they highly appreciated the great Indian hospitality.
Career counselling session at Birla Vidya Niketan
Birla Vidya Niketan invited a panel of expert career counsellors to address students of Class XI and their parents to help them take the right decisions regarding streams and careers to be chosen. Principal Minakshi Kushwaha welcomed the guests and spoke about the need to take mature decisions. The counsellor from IIT Delhi,Rupa Murghai,spoke about the need for informed choices,which should to be monitored. She emphasised on the need to build critical thinking and containing ones paradigms. Harminder Kaur from Admizzion Campuz provided exhaustive information on admission criteria,colleges/ universities offering different courses,entrance tests,etc. The team from Pratham emphasised on the need to opt for what one truly enjoys and eroded the perception that science is for the best students followed by commerce and humanities. All three disciplines lead to equally lucrative careers,they said.
St Marks School,Janakpuri,hosts Odissi dance recital
The school hosted Odissi dance recital by the renowned dancer Ranjana Gauhar under the aegis of SPIC-MACAY on April 9. The artiste was accorded a traditional welcome and the programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by school principal Rama Sethi.The highly proficient dancer explained the nuances of the dance and the significance of mythological stories adapted in dance forms. She began the presentation with Shiv stuti and went on to present an interesting and instructive dance on Meera Bai’s verses. An interaction with students made the session not only enjoyable but informative too. It was an unforgettable experience for the students as they were exposed to the cultural heritage of classical dances of India.
