Inter-school debate held at Rai Kedarnath Auditorium
The Ramjas Inter-School Debate in English and Hindi were held on December 1 and 2 at the Rai Kedarnath Auditorium. The preliminary rounds were held earlier at Ramjas School,Pusa Road. As many as 40 schools participated in this round.
The topics for debates at the finals were Media cannot play the role of social activism in English and Nayi shiksha neeti se aas,yaani har pappu pass. The judges for the debates were Dr Baldevanand Sagar,Dr Ravi Sharma and Varsha Goyal. For the debate in English,the judges were Dr Kishore Das,Antara Datta from Delhi University and Shivani Pandey all eminent scholars and writers. Well-known writer Dr Kusum Ansal graced the occasion as the chief guest for the English debate. Aditya Awasthi,Executive Director,Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies,was the chief guest at the debate in Hindi. The winners of the running trophy in English were New Era Public School and the runner up was Tagore International School,Vasant Vihar. In individual prizes,the first prize went to Abhinav Kakkar from New Era Public School. Mridul Mahajan from Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura,bagged the second-best speaker’s prize while Tushar Chakrabarty,CRPF School,won the third prize. The consolation prizes were awarded to Katyayini Singh and Ruhamita Banerjee from Tagore International School. Rushil Batra and Roshan were declared the best interjectors in the finals. Aayush Singhal and Medha Nagaraj were declared the best interjectors in the prelims. The special prize for the best aided Ramjas School was won by the Ramjas Girls Sr Sec School,Daryaganj. In Hindi,Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura,lifted the trophy while NC Jindal Public School was declared the runner up. Chetan Sharma from Ramjas School No. 4 and Dwivij Bajaj of Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura were declared the best and the second-best speakers of the day. The third prize was bagged by Abhimanyu Kharv of N C Jindal Public School. Nitika Maheshwari and Sakshi Aggarwal of New Era Public School and Ramjas School,Pusa Road, won the consolation prizes.
Scholar badge ceremony at Delhi Public School,RK Puram
Delhi Public School,RK Puram hosted the annual Class VII scholar badge ceremony on the 14th of December 2011 to promote excellence in academics and co-curricular activities. The chief guest at the event was Shekhar Dutt,Governor of Chhattisgarh. Ashok Chandra,Chairman of DPS Society was the guest of honour at the event.
The programme commenced with a rejuvenating Indian classical instrumental performance. The Principal,Dr D R Saini welcomed everyone and appreciated the achievements of students in the various walks of life. An exuberant musical performance by the choir on the song ‘I believe I can Fly’,an enchanting classical dance item and a patriotic dance by the students of DPS Shiksha Kendra were the highlights of the programme.
A PowerPoint presentation was displayed showcasing the importance of living cent percent and believing in oneself. The students shared their views on the theme,’Actions speak louder than words’ and rendered inspirational speeches by world leaders.
