The Delhi governments plan for renovation of the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Sarai Kale Khan has been put on hold after it failed to get clearance from environmental agencies and the Fire department.
The government had recently announced that the three ISBTs in the Capital will be revamped before the Commonwealth Games. There were plans of upgrading facilities like passengers waiting area and toilets,as well as improving the security apparatus.
The other two ISBTs that are being developed are at Kashmere Gate in Central Delhi and at Anand Vihar in East Delhi.
The State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) recently told the project proponent,Delhi Transport Corporation,that the information submitted does not meet the requirement for environmental clearance.
The government has allocated Rs 150 crore for redevelopment of Sarai Kale Khan ISBT including construction of two multi-storey blocks with various facilities.
