The accused, identified as Ajay (36), a resident of Motipura village in Bhiwani district, is the third person arrested in the case.
“The accused told police during questioning that he loaded the consignment from Garhi Harsaru in Gurugram on December 9 and obtained a bill for delivery to Goa. The canter used for the delivery was seized, police said.
He was produced in court on Monday and remanded to a two-day police custody for further questioning, they added.
Earlier, the police had arrested the store’s manager Ajay (26), and co-owner Ankush Goyal (40).The main operator, Surender Singh, remains absconding, along with other partners. Efforts are on to apprehend the remaining suspects, police said.
The case stems from a tip-off received on December 9, leading to an Excise Department raid on the store, operating as ‘The Theka’.
Officials recovered 3,921 cases and 176 loose bottles of foreign liquor without holograms and track-and-trace strips from two rooms. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Excise Act at Sector-40 police station.
A special investigation team, comprising Crime Branch and Sector-40 police officers, was formed to probe the matter. The investigation is still underway.
