Rioting, defacement, assault: The cases against AAP MLAs

Leaders of the Congress and BJP, who have ruled Delhi in the past, said such matters were routine.

Among the 24 cases that the Lieutenant Governor’s office Friday alleged Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain wanted withdrawn, are several cases of defacement of property, using derogatory language and assaulting government servants.

Jain had allegedly sought approval from Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to withdraw these cases as they were “politically motivated” and registered against MLAs primarily during elections and after protests and demonstrations.

Leaders of the Congress and BJP, who have ruled Delhi in the past, said such matters were routine. Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken said, “There are several cases which are registered against MLAs and politicians after protests and demonstrations. In the past, such cases have been withdrawn after mutual consent.”

According to the AAP, Jain’s actions did not favour the party as the list included former legislators from the Congress and BJP including sitting BJP MP Parvesh Verma and former Congress MLA Mukesh Sharma.

FIR No 295/13 of Desh Bandhu Gupta Road police station in Central Delhi:
Against: Karol Bagh AAP MLA Vishesh Ravi
The case of Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act was registered following the complaint of a Head Constable Kuldeep Chand against Karol Bagh legislator Vishesh Ravi for allegedly putting up campaign poster containing the images of Kejriwal and himself, seeking votes.

FIR No 828/14 of Rohini South police station:
Against: Mangolpuri AAP MLA Rakhi Birla
The case of allegedly thrashing a government employee during his duty hours was registered following the complaint by a sanitation inspector Nirmal Singh against the AAP MLA from Mangolpuri, Rakhi Birla. Singh was allegedly attacked by Birla and her two associates when he was organising a cleanliness drive in Rohini.

FIR No 830/14 of Rohini South police station:
Against: Mangolpuri AAP MLA Rakhi Birla
The case for allegedly thrashing and using derogatory language was registered following the complaint of a local resident of Rohini, Dharambir Katariya.

FIR NOs, 71/12, 72/12, 73/12 and 111/12 of Tughlak Road police station:
Against: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, deputy CM Manish Sisodia and AAP leader Kumar Vishwas
Four separate cases of rioting and violating Section 144 of CrPc were registered following the complaints of police personnel. They were booked after AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Kumar Vishwas had staged a protest in December 2012 outside the residence of then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and also marched towards the PM’s residence.

FIR NO 388/14 of Maurya Enclave police station:
Against: Shalimar Bagh AAP MLA Bandana Kumari
The case of Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act was registered following the complaint of a Head Constable Manoj Raghav against MLA Bandana Kumari for allegedly putting up campaign posters during election time.

FIR NO 170/14 of Janak Puri police station of West Delhi:
Against: Tilak Nagar AAP MLA Jarnail Singh
The case of Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act was registered following the complaint of a Head Constable Mahender Singh against AAP MLA Jarnail Singh for allegedly for allegedly putting up campaign poster during election time.

FIR NO 517/13 police station Mandawali:
Against: Patparganj MLA and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia
FIR lodged against Manish Sisodia under sections of The Delhi Prevention of Defacement of property act 2007. It is alleged that at a plot at Pandav Nagar, Sisodia stuck posters of the election programme of Kumar Vishwas at Patparganj.

FIR NO 189/14 Police station Rajouri Garden:
Against: Rajouri Garden AAP MLA Jarnail Singh
FIR lodged against Jarnail Singh under the The Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act 2007.
It is alleged that near a public toilet in Subhash Nagar, Singh put up a board during the Lok Sabha election campaign, seeking votes in the West Delhi constituency.

FIR NO :173/14:
Against: Tilak Nagar AAP MLA Jarnail Singh
FIR lodged against MLA Jarnail Singh under sections of The Delhi Prevention of Defacement of property act 2007. It is alleged that at a street light near DDA market at Fateh Nagar, Singh stuck campaign posters containing the images of Kejriwal and himself, seeking votes.
