The results for the ICSE and ISC Board exams declared on Tuesday came in favour of the girls,who outscored boys in most areas across the country.
In Delhi and NCR,ICSE pass percentage was up 0.46 per cent from last year and stood at 98.72 per cent. For ISC exams,the total pass percentage was 98.41,an increase of 1.53 per cent from last year.
The ICSE and ISC exams are conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
Additional secretary,officiating chief executive and secretary (CISCE) Gerry Arathoon said: This year too girls have done better than the boys. We have seen an increase in the girls results as well.
The CISCE has not declared any toppers this year. We have decided not to declare toppers this year. It is against our policy, added Arathoon.
Thirty schools in Delhi and NCR are affiliated to CISCE. While 1,946 students appeared for ICSE,819 wrote the ISC exams.
The total number of students who took the CISCE in India and abroad is 1,22,347. For Class X,68,382 boys and 53,965 girls from 1,638 schools wrote the exams .
The best pass percentage for Class X came from South India with 99.72 per cent,closely followed by West India at 99.63 per cent. Eastern region saw 98.7 per cent students clearing the exam.
The Southern region also has the highest percentage of girls at 48.77 per cent who had appeared in the examination.
Delhi has two CISCE affiliated schools Frank Anthony School-Lajpat Nagar and Swami Hariharanand Public School-Yamuna Bazaar.
Officials at Holy Child School-Ghaziabad said: In Class XII,the highest percentage we got is 96 per cent. In Class X,the highest percentage is 96.8 per cent.
In Class XII,57,487 (31,712 boys and 25,775 girls) students wrote the examination from 764 schools. For this class,too,the Southern region has the best pass percentage at 98.28 per cent,followed by the Western region at 97.8 per cent. East India saw 97.46 per cent students clearing the exam and North India had 96.8 pass percentage.
All 157 students from the foreign region cleared the exam.
