As many as 12 people were killed in the November 10 Red Fort blast. (Express photo)Jasir Bilal Wani, a close aide of Umar Un Nabi who allegedly drove the i20 car that blew up near Red Fort on November 10, has been sent to 10 days of NIA custody by the Patiala court in Delhi on Tuesday. The alleged co-conspirator was arrested on Monday by the law enforcement agency.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna has permitted the NIA’s plea seeking custodial interrogation of the accused. Mediapersons were barred from entering the court premises, which virtually turned the proceedings ‘in camera’.
Police personnel and the Rapid Action Force were deployed in large numbers in the court premises. There were several personnel in anti-riot gear.
In the second arrest made by the central agency in the case, the NIA termed Wani an active co-conspirator behind the attack, who worked closely with the terrorist, Umar un Nabi, to plan the “terror carnage.”
Wani is a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. He was arrested in Srinagar on Monday for allegedly providing technical support for carrying out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets ahead of the bomb blast, the agency said in a statement.
In the first arrest the NIA made on Sunday, Kashmiri resident Amir Rashid Ali was held, who was allegedly conspiring with Umar Nabi and providing him logistical support, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) told a Delhi court on Monday. It also said he will be taken to Kashmir for further investigation.
Ali was arrested by the Jammu & Kashmir Police from his home in Pampore a few hours after the blast. As many as 12 people were killed in the Hyundai i20 blast that took place outside Red Fort on November 10.
