Tashi Tobgyal A Delhi court on Thursday sent Muzammil Ahmad Ganai, Adeel Ahmed Rather, Shaheen Saeed Ansari and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, all close associates of Umar Nabi, who drove the i20 car that blew up near Red Fort on November 10, to 10-day National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody.
Earlier in the day, the NIA took them into custody in Srinagar and produced them in the Patiala House Court in Delhi.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna sent the four accused to 10 days of NIA custody on the anti-terror probe agency’s plea, which was seeking 15 days of custodial interrogation.
The three doctors, as well as the Mufti, had earlier been arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. While the Mufti was arrested on October 27, Muzammil was arrested on October 29 and Adeel on November 5. Shaheen was arrested on November 10.
Earlier in the day, an NIA spokesperson said that the agency has arrested the four accused. “Moving expeditiously with its probe in the case, the NIA had earlier arrested two other accused: Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the car used in the blast was registered, and Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, who had provided technical aid to the terrorist involved in the deadly attack,” the spokesperson added.
