Gopal Rai, Nitin Gadkari discuss e-rickshaw issue

Rai said the registration of e-rickshaws was stopped after May this year in the capital. He asked the Union minister to extend the date of e-rickshaws’ registration to December 31.

State Transport Minister Gopal Rai met Union Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari on Friday to discuss the issue of e-rickshaws. Rai said he got a positive response from Gadkari on the extension of date for registration of e-rickshaws.

Rai said the registration of e-rickshaws was stopped after May this year in the capital. He asked the Union minister to extend the date of e-rickshaws’ registration to December 31.

Rai also urged Gadkari to give the right of retrofitment to multiple firms rather than one company issuing the go-ahead for registration. Rai said this will break the monopoly and make the process of registration faster.
