Qutab-C Sectt line opens to public on September 3

Following the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety’s approval on Tuesday,the 12.53-km Metro corridor from Central Secretariat to Qutab Minar is all set to be thrown open for public use on September 3.

Following the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety’s approval on Tuesday,the 12.53-km Metro corridor from Central Secretariat to Qutab Minar is all set to be thrown open for public use on September 3.

With this,Line 2 of the Delhi Metro will become fully operational — linking Jahangirpuri in North Delhi to HUDA City Centre in Gurgaon. As a run-up to the occasion,the Ministry of Textiles and the DMRC will unveil the INA Metro Station,which has a special interior decor showcasing traditional murals,paintings and crafts of India.

DMRC officials said the underground corridor will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at 1 pm on Friday. After the flagging off of the ceremonial train from the Udyog Bhawan Metro station,the section will be opened to the public from 3 pm on the same day.

“CMRS R K Kardam completed his inspection of the corridor today and a formal clearance is expected shortly,” a DMRC spokesperson said.

This much-awaited line connects several tourist destinations and commercial hubs such as INA Market,Green Park,Saket and Qutab Minar to Gurgaon.

Once the 12.53-km stretch is operational,Line 2 will run a distance of 45 km from Jahangirpuri to HUDA City Centre.
