The Ghaziabad police,on Saturday, indicated that they may take action against the Human Resources manager of Allied Nippon Ltd,who had allegedly opened fire on workers last Saturday.
This had spurred the enraged workers to assault a senior official of the firm, who later succumbed to his injuries.
Identifying the accused as Raj Kumar,SSP (Ghaziabad) Raghubir Lal said that though eight persons have already been arrested in connection with the case,no action has been taken against the management so far.
The incident took place on November 13,when a squabble broke out between workers and the management of the firm. During the course of the argument,Kumar allegedly fired his licensed pistol to disperse the disgruntled employees. But the action only infuriated the workers, who went into a rampage and ended up lynching the management official, a senior police officer said, adding that the workers were protesting the dismissal of a few co-employees.
On their part, the management continues to maintain that no worker was fired at. According to a statement given by firm Vice-President Mahender Chaudhry to the police, the workers attack was completely unprovoked.
Raghubir Lal,however, remains unconvinced by Chaudhrys argument. He has pointed out that bringing firearms to office let alone opening fire is in violation of the Factory Act,according to the Uttar Pradesh state law.
As many as 28 persons were named in the FIR registered by the Ghaziabad police,of which eight were arrested last Sunday.
