Police bust gang producing fake certificates, two arrested

Two men were arrested by the Noida Police on Tuesday for allegedly producing fake marksheets, degrees, and migration certificates, among other documents, for individuals who failed their examinations or needed to alter their age.

The accused, Abhimanyu Gupta (40) and Dharmendra Gupta (42), are both from Kanpur and reside at Sector 39 in Noida. Both held BA degrees, said police. They allegedly charged between Rs 80,000 to Rs 2 lakh for creating the forged marksheets, said Additional DCP Sumit Kumar Shukla, adding that the accused used to lure students who failed in Board and university exams.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Swatantra Kumar Singh said, “The station in charge of the Phase 1 police station sent a policeman to approach the gang members seeking fake BSc marksheets. The deal was fixed at Rs 66,000 and the two men were caught red-handed.”

“The accused have been working for at least four years. They gathered marksheet details from different universities from the Internet and doctored certificates with information of unemployed people, and people who have failed in exams or have crossed the age limit for employment,” said DCP Prasad.

Both the accused own luxury cars and two flats each in Noida, said an officer.
