Pets’ Day Out

What’s in store at Pet Fed, a festival for pets in the Capital

Animals lovers get a chance to indulge their best friends Animals lovers get a chance to indulge their best friends

Humans have their festivals and now so do their animal pals. Pet Fed promises to be to the pawed and clawed population what comic con was to fans of “spandexed” superheroes. The event, to be held at Dilli Haat today, involves treats such as a fashion show where styled animals walk the ramp, photo opportunities for pets wearing fancy props, and a pet adoption camp. Not surprisingly, organisers call it the “pet con” and inform us that 250 dogs have registered for the games and activities. The show is being organised by Mydea Ventures in partnership with People for Animals, a Delhi-based animal welfare organisation.

Puppy therapy is one of the highlights, enabling people to spend time with countless puppies. “Through this, we want visitors to realise that stray puppies are as good as the ones you find at homes,” says Akshay Gupta, founder of Mydea Ventures. You can also try for the title of Pupcake Champion by participating in the pupcake baking contest.

Brands will set up stalls, offering supplies, food and toys for pets. Angel Bedi of The Filmy Owl fame, will paint her quirky mix of Hindi and English quotes, on a graffiti wall designed for people who want to paint, write or pledge their love for animals. A host of games around animals, such as a treasure hunt titled Scooby-Doo Mystery or Kung Fu Panda Challenge are other add-ons.

There’s a music performance listed, too, but only after the pets leave.

Pet Fed will be held at Dilli Haat, INA Market, 10 am-9 pm. Entry: Rs 20 (adults) and Rs 10 (child). Contact: http://www.petfed.org
