No dancing please: Delhi Metro’s appeal against reels

This is not the first time that the DMRC is asking passengers not to dance inside the Metro. It made a similar appeal on Twitter in September, telling passengers that the stage is the right place for dance and not the Metro.

The DMRC also put out tweets in February this year asking commuters not to dance in the Metro.

The ‘don’ts’ on the DMRC’s travel advisory include carrying firearms, jumping over automatic fare collection gates, sharing smart cards or tokens, trying to force open train doors and trying to enter or exit when train doors are closing. A number of items are prohibited from being carried on the Metro, including tools like hammers and crowbars, fireworks and alcohol.

There are specific offences under the Delhi Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002, for which penalties are applicable. These include “drunkenness or nuisance, or spitting, or sitting on the floor of the train or quarrelling”, travelling without ticket or pass, defacing Metro property, writing or pasting in the compartment, and “unlawful entry (to enter into the coach reserved for women”.
