NGT seeks Sri Sri’s reply on plea against him

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) Tuesday sought a reply within two weeks from Art of Living (AOL) founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on a contempt petition filed by activist Manoj Mishra. The plea stated that Sri Sri, in a statement to the press, had “disrespected” the order passed by the Tribunal on March 9.

According to the plea, the AOL founder had called the NGT’s order “politically motivated”.

The NGT had imposed an interim compensation for the impact of the World Culture Festival, organised by the AOL Foundation, on the Yamuna floodplains in March. AOL is yet to pay the full amount.
On March 10, AOL paid Rs 25 lakh and sought time to pay the rest.
