New software to help cops track criminals

All the 23 police stations in Gurgaon district will soon be connected to the hi-tech Crime Criminal Tracing System, which will enable them to track criminals even if they are in another part of the country.

All the 23 police stations in Gurgaon district will soon be connected to the hi-tech Crime Criminal Tracing System, which will enable them to track criminals even if they are in another part of the country. The first of the systems was launched at the Police Lines on Tuesday.

Commissioner of Police S S Deswal told Newsline: “This is a one-of-a-kind system that collects data from across the country. This is a national programme and soon all the police stations within our district will be connected.” The system is expected to reduce the time spent in tracking suspects, who are out of the district police’s jurisdiction.

“Usually,if we want information on a person residing in a different state,it takes days to get it. With this,we will get it in hours through the Internet,” said a senior police officer.

The department also plans to conduct special training sessions at regular intervals. The system will also be used for the verification of tenants and domestic helps, who migrate to the city.
