National-level athlete ‘molested’ on way to gym, man arrested

The incident came to light after the athlete’s father filed a complaint with the Modinagar police station, based on which a case of molestation and indecency was lodged. “The accused has been identified and taken into police custody. Further legal action is being taken,” Assistant Police Commissioner (Modinagar) Amit Saxena said.

In her statement to the police, the athlete has allegedly said that Ankur stopped her on the way to the gym and insisted that she speak to him. “When she refused, he allegedly grabbed her hand and tried to force himself on her,” an officer said.
