Suresh Kalmadi, sacked chairman of the Organising Committee,on Thursday dismissed reports of him suffering from dementia saying,“My mind,my brain is all okay”.

He said he had been undergoing “routine checkups”.

Kalmadi was at AIIMS,where he underwent a preliminary clinical examination, following a court order on Wednesday.

A three-member team of doctors, including a neurologist, cardiologist and a radiologist, attended to Kalmadi for an hour on Thursday. The team, headed by Professor of Neurology Dr M V Padma, has decided to admit the MP on August 1 for further examination.

Dr Rakesh Yadav,Professor of Cardiology, was also part of the team of doctors.

An MRI report from LN Hospital last week had diagnosed him with “diffused cerebral atrophy with old ischemic changes in brain parenchyma with calcified granuloma in caudothalamic groove on left side (of his brain)”.

Tihar Jail authorities had said the MRI was recommended by the prison’s resident medical officer, since Kalmadi had complained of dizziness.

Incidentally,in his bail plea Kalmadi had cited ailing health,a history of two brain strokes and radiological examinations reporting brain tissue necrosis.
