A galaxy of India’s best classical musicians will converge in the Capital for the Indraprastha Sangeet Samaroh,which pays tribute to sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan. Being held for the first time,the three-day festival will begin with a sitar recital by Ustad Vilayat Khan’s son Shujaat Khan,the seventh in the unbroken line of Imdad Khan gharana.

Hindustani vocalists Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan and Kalapini Komkali (picture,right),are part of the line-up. Pt Bhajan Sopori (picture,left) and his son Abhay Rustam Sopori will present tunes inspired by the landscape of Kashmir with their santoor. Abhay is the youngest artist to have won the Sangeet Natak Academy award.

The third day will begin with a Carnatic vocal recital by Sudha Raghunathan and end with sitar pieces by Ustad Nishat Khan,Ustad Vilayat Khan’s nephew.
