An undernourished child lies in a basket in one photograph,in another farmers gape at the barren lands of the Middle East,in a third, ragpickers trample huge piles of garbage — this exhibition of photographs forces the audience to confront reality. Organised by the Indian chapter of the Bharat Soka Gakkai, and titled ‘Seeds of Change: The Earth Charter & Human Potential,’ the exhibition is,however, not about poverty and misery.

The pictures and the inscriptions on the panels describe how individuals in different parts of the world have surmounted problems and,in the process, have become a force for global change. “Only a human revolution that reforms our views of the natural world, life and values has the power to alter human destiny,” said Dr Daisaku Ikeda,President,Bharat Soka Gakkai.

Created by Soka Gakkai International and the Earth Charter initiative, the exhibition won the won the third prize at the 2002 World Summit on sustainable development in Johannesberg.

The exhibition is on at Khaitan school in Noida till April 5. Contact: 9312784184
