After it was voted out of power in the Capital, AAP on Saturday held its first meeting with party workers and in charges of its frontal organisations.

Party Delhi convenor and former environment minister Gopal Rai, who chaired the meeting, told party workers, “More than 70% of you were not working for the party candidate. All of you did your best when it comes to working for the party but there was a lack of effort while working for the candidate.”

Rai made the remarks as several district in-charges complained about the lack of involvement from the party’s top guns during campaigning, said sources.

Addressing mediapersons, Rai said, “Today we had a meeting with all the frontal organisations. We evaluated our wins and losses.” He added that an audit of all functionaries at the Lok Sabha, district, assembly, and ward levels will be conducted within a week to assess their roles during the elections.

The party, meanwhile, has decided to restructure its frontal organisations — women, student, Purvanchali, legal and OBC wings — after holding an internal audit, which is expected to be completed within a week. “The restructuring will strengthen our presence in areas where we had strong support and to address communication gaps,” Rai said.

On the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Rai said an announcement will be made after MLAs take oath on February 24.

Asked about the new government’s decision to table 14 CAG reports in Assembly, Rai said, “The BJP has been in the Opposition for so long that even after coming to power, it is acting like before… This is not the first time a CAG report has been released…”
