Ministers inspect Games projects

The inspections follow Dikshit’s strict instructions to all Cabinet ministers to oversee the status of all Games-related projects.

The two ministers visited the sites at Vikas Marg,ITO Chungi,the marginal bund road leading to Akshardham Temple,the road leading to the Games Village,NH-24,the Ghazipur crossing and the roads leading to the Yamuna Sports Complex.

Walia has specifically issued instructions to construct railings around saplings planted along the central verge on Vikas Marg as they were being damaged by pedestrians. The ministers have also asked the PWD to expedite streetscaping work at the flyover near Akshardam Temple and the Games Village.

“We have asked them to deploy more workers and increase the pace of work,” Walia said.

The ministers have also asked the PWD to commission the construction of a flyover on Road No 56 and 57 between the Ghazipur Crossing and the Yamuna Sports Complex to make the route signal-free. The ministers will re-inspect these areas after 10 days,Walia said.

Lovely added that the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will set up 1,000 bus q-shelters from the second week of July after the construction of footpaths gets over. The work is expected to be completed by August 15.
