Days before his retirement,Managing Director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) E Sreedharan met Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on Wednesday and asked them to provide special assistance to differently abled commuters.

Sreedharan (78),known to Delhiites as the Metro Man,was speaking at a one-day meet of the force, where operational preparedness of various sectors across the country was reviewed. He reportedly asked the CISF to make it easier for differently abled commuters to commute.

“We have designed platforms to make things easier for physically challenged passengers, and security personnel should pay special attention to them while travelling,” said Sreedharan.

The CISF,which provides security for the Delhi Metro network, was inducted in 2007.

Sreedharan complimented the security agency as well as Metro staffers for “going beyond their call of duty” at many instances to help commuters. He said CSIF personnel should keep social responsibility as their “top priority” while carrying out their duties.
